Woven from the Field

13 September - 15 November 2025

'Woven from the Field' is a celebration of land, creativity and sustainable practice, this inspiring exhibition showcases the work of willow weaver Sue Kirk and textile artist Rosalind Stoddart. Using materials sustainably grown and gathered from their own land, the artists present striking large-scale sculpture, intricate basketry, and contemporary hand-woven wall pieces made with alpaca fleece dyed using natural plant dyes. Blending heritage techniques with a bold, modern aesthetic, the exhibition reflects a deep connection to nature and a shared commitment to working in harmony with the environment.

'Woven in the Field' runs alongside accompanying exhibition 'Found in the Fields' exploring the English arable landscape by renown painter and printmaker Carry Ackroyd

Woven Lives Podcasts

Woven Lives began in the summer of 2024. Sue Kirk and Jody Kirk have been hosting professional basketmakers from the UK and Europe for three years, throughout this time many fascinating conversations were had over dinner with the tutors they have hosted. These exchanges led to an idea, why not archive through audio recordings, the lives of basketmakers, especially discussing the makers who inspired or taught them. Thus archiving two generations of basketmakers. Each maker also gives advice to the next generation of basketmakers. So the Woven Lives Podcast was created.

The team are sound engineer Tim Palmer whose brilliant sound and editing skills give a high quality feel to the recordings. Jody Kirk is the graphic designer and social media whizz who manages our Youtube platform. Sue Kirk is the producer and interviewer.
