Social History
Discover how Rugby has changed over the past 200 years - at work, home and in the community - in our Social History Gallery.

The gallery showcases a wealth of fascinating objects selected from the social history collection, which aim to illustrate the changing patterns of social and domestic life in Rugby and the borough.

Objects and photographs donated by local people evoke fascinating memories of Rugby life in displays which focus on the community, the home and the lives of residents, both in the workplace and outside of work.

Visitors to the gallery can:

  • learn about Rugby’s rich engineering heritage through an interactive multimedia kiosk and displays which highlight the range of industries which settled in the area and changed working lives during the 20th century
  • explore a variety of everyday objects used by Rugbeians, from toys and games to clothing, household items and appliances
  • browse images from the photograph collections
  • enjoy learning through a range of activity sheets and dressing up activities

Visit the Social History Gallery and discover how life in Rugby has changed over the years – and perhaps share your own memories of the borough and the way it has grown.
