Geoffrey's Acrylic Pouring Art
7 - 18  March 2023

This is Geoff's first exhibition as an artist.  Geoff is a local resident of Brinklow and started his artistic journey in February 2020.  He specialises in acrylic pouring art using a variety of styles.  There is a dutch pour, swipes, blooms, flip cup and many more.  All are finished with resin to protect the colours.  Geoff takes commissions so do come along and see the range of works he has which include deep edge canvases, ceramic tiles, small table tops and jewellery boxes.

Jamie Gray | August - October 2025

I have been interested in photography since I was 16, receiving an SLR camera as a birthday present and forever spending pocket money on films. I learnt darkroom skills at Rugby College back in 1998, and I have always been fascinated with the process of creating an image from a negative, onto a photosensitive paper.

To me, making prints is the whole point of the art. I still use film because it affords me the chance to slow down, deciding with my minds eye the one right photograph, rather than taking hundreds on digital. Each frame on film costs.

I am drawn to mundane and banal urban corners; places many would not find photogenic. I feel through capturing them I am liberating their beauty. I am also interested in human behaviours, public spaces, communities, and their identity. I was a newspaper photographer once upon a time and this period of time drew me close to being involved in the narrative of people. An ongoing project of mine is the flux of Coventry; how the changing urban landscape impacts on the people within it. The Moon, trees, street photography and the odd bucolic landscape also draw my eye.

I am lucky to be able to make a career from being a freelance photographer, with photography also my hobby.

Why 'The Moat?

Up until 1924 Regent Place was part of Moat Street, so named because a moated manor house was here in the late 1130s. In fact, above the Oxfam shop is a plaque for Moat House. From the middle-ages to modern day, we are reclaiming the name for our new gallery.
