Quentin Blake Book Covers Exhibition

To accompany our Quentin Blake: Book Covers exhibition, launching on Saturday 10th February, the workshops below will be themed around Quentin Blake's work. Students will have the chance to explore the exhibition and then take part in one of the creative workshops.

There is also an exciting competition for your students to have their artworks on display in our main Art Gallery by taking part in our Quentin Blake Book Cover Design Competition. 

Draw, Draw, Draw KS 1-4

A two-hour workshop to explore the exhibition and improve your students’ drawing skills. Children will explore mark making, drawing characters, portraiture and much more in the language of art. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop basic techniques in a fun and creative environment led by our experienced staff.

Curriculum Links

  • Students will produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences.
  • Practice in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques. (KS1-3)
  • Helps to build knowledge about great artists, craft makers and designers, (KS1-2) and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms. (KS3)
Workshop costs £116.80 per class for a two hour session. Maximum of 2 classes. (Increasing to £124.60 for bookings from April 2024)

The Sketch Book Journey Workshop  KS 1-4

For the Quentin Blake Book Covers Exhibition, we are also offering a storytelling and object handling tour of the exhibition, with play focussed tactile exploration which brings the illustrations of Quentin Blake to life. Supporting imagination, creativity, and self-expression, these sessions are especially tailored for Early Years Foundational Stage and SEND groups learners.

Curriculum Links

  • Students will create sketch books to record their observations and use them to review and revisit ideas(KS1-2) and analyse and evaluate their own work, and that of others (KS3)
  • Students will evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design (KS1-3)
  • Students will identify differences and similarities between different artists (KS1-2) and periods, styles and major movements  (KS3)
This workshop costs £116.80 per class for a two-hour session. Maximum of 2 classes.  (Increasing to £124.60 for bookings from April 2024).

 

Sensory Storytelling Tour

For the Quentin Blake Book Covers Exhibition, we are also offering a storytelling and object handling tour of the exhibition, with play focussed tactile exploration which brings the illustrations of Quentin Blake to life. Supporting imagination, creativity, and self-expression, these sessions are especially tailored for Early Years Foundational Stage and SEND groups learners.

This workshop costs £50 for up to 10 students.
